Hampton continues to grow even as some of our peers are downsizing or disappearing. Most of the growth of Hampton Affiliates has been through the addition of timberland, manufacturing capacity and sales operations.

Below is a summary of Hampton's history:
1942 Acquisition of Willamina Lumber Company in Willamina, Oregon

1942 11,000 acres of timberland purchased to provide log supply for Willamina mill
1950 John Hampton starts Hampton Lumber Sales
1986 Acquisition of Tillamook Lumber Company in Tillamook, Oregon
1991 Big Creek acquisition adds 34,000 acres of timberland in Northwest Oregon
1993 Knappton Naselle acquisition adds 11,000 acres of timberland in Southwest Washington
1996 Ryderwood acquisition adds 94,000 acres of timberland in Southwest Washington
1999 Acquisition of Cowlitz Studs in Washington adds 250 million board feet+ of stud production
2002 Acquisition of sawmill in Darrington, Washington, which produces dimension and stud lumber from Douglas fir and Hemlock logs. Production capacity will exceed 300MMBF when remodelling is completed in 2007
2002

Timberland exchange completed, bringing Hampton's timberland holdings to 155,000 acres and consolidating timber holdings closer to our mills

2004 Wilson River Tree Farm purchase adds 12,000 acres in Northwest Oregon to Hampton's ownership

 
2006

Acquisition of 89% interest in Babine Forest Products and Decker Lake Forest Products, sawmills in Burns Lake, B.C. adds 375 MMBF of SPF production. The Burns Lake Native Development Corporation retained 11% ownership
